Outreach with Brazos Mobile Food Pantry!

Brazos Interfaith Immigration Networks Americorp coordinators had the opportunity to volunteer at the Brazos Mobile Food Pantry on January 27th, 2024. This opportunity arose after the Americorp coordinator’s decision to choose to volunteer at the food pantry as part of their Americorp Service Project.

Volunteering at the Brazos Mobile Food Pantry allowed the BIIN Americorp members to not only volunteer but also give back to the community of Bryan, Texas. At 8 am the coordinators were ready to help out. The coordinators had the opportunity to walk around and talk to all the families waiting in line for food. They got to meet people from all walks of life who were thankful for the work that The Boys and Girls Club and The Brazos Valley Food Bank were doing to provide a much-needed mobile food pantry. Once the coordinators walked around, they got to work packing the fruit that was to be distributed into bags for each family. Looking around, there were hundreds upon hundreds of bags of food packed and ready to be distributed. Once the mobile food pantry opened, all the volunteers along with the BIIN coordinators began to distribute the food. It was wonderful to see the smiles on the family’s faces as they received food that would help make a difference in their lives.

At the end of the day, the coordinators received an invaluable experience that they will carry with them forever. The BIIN Americorp coordinators would like to thank The Boys and Girls Club for continuously hosting the mobile food pantry, The Brazos Valley Food Bank for providing food to families in need, and The Brazos Mobile Food Pantry for allowing us the opportunity to volunteer.
